When Bethel won the cup at Palmer Park Stadium

Support came from so many different sectors of our local community. Like one big cosmopolitan family coming together under the banner of spiritual care and brotherly love; hoping, trusting, praying and believing that where there is unity you will find strength! It took a whole lot of commitment from a whole lot of people to make winning the cup a reality - many are not featured in the above photo, but this particular picture does capture a moment that somehow expresses our conviction that all the sacrifice; sweat; blood; tears; trials and tribulations for all concerned are worth it for the happy days...days like the day when Bethel won the cup

About Bethel

Bethel United FC is a Reading community club run by lay preacher Joshua Wilson who is committed to the vision and realisation of a church effective in and reflective of the diverse community with in which the church is based. We believe that principles taught by Jesus Christ will help both believer and non-believer alike in every walk of life - without exception (which includes football).

House of God is the literal translation of the Hebrew name Bethel. It refers to a place where, before there was Christianity; before there was Judaism; before there was Islam...a place where Abraham & Jacob some time afterward (Genesis 28:8) had an encounter with God that not only changed his life forever, but it seems the world also. In accordance with the origin of its name, the spirit of Bethel is one of regal excellence, true faithfulness and strength. It must have taken a very special kind of strength for a man to wrestle with God all night until the break of day. Jacob called it 'the gate of heaven' - I call it 'my home'.

Over the past few years I have had the honour of working with men who have stood the tests of time with integrity, total commitment and uncompromising passion. Despite our various ages, backgrounds, different walks of life and personal experiences - we have come together to form a united squad under the banner of brotherly love, respect and determination. Let the football speak for itself - our lives both on and off the pitch will tell their own story.
